John A. Kinch, Ph.D.
In 2007, Kinch joined a finance and technology company to direct its marketing communications and help develop a green investing venture.  Prior to this, he spent a decade in marketing communications and fundraising with The Nature Conservancy in Michigan and in its international headquarters in Washington D.C.  He also has directed marketing and communications for five years at the University of Michigan.  At The Nature Conservancy, he was part of a team that created strategic global conservation campaigns that involved international governments, federal agencies, private businesses and nonprofits. 

Kinch is also an adjunct professor at Michigan State University, where he teaches courses in community service and professional writing around the issue of environmental sustainability. He has an American Studies Ph.D. from MSU with a dissertation on the "the cyclical reinvention of the American Environmental Movement."  

He has also been a nonprofit volunteer for the IT Zone, New Enterprise at Work, Urban Options, and US Green Building Council, among others.  His editorial positions have included photographer, magazine editor and freelance journalist in which he has published widely, including a book, and articles for wire services and The New York Times, among others.
